Illinois Eviction Moratorium Extended to February 2021

0

The moratorium on evictions mandated by Governer J.B. Pritzker’s administration has now been extended through February 6th, 2021 – This is a state-wide extension of the CDC’s nationwide ban on evictions which expires in late January 2021. Credit checks, income verification and landlord verifications are going to be emphasized more than they have been in recent years as landlords hesitate to take risks in this climate. Landlord rights groups are objecting to the constitutionality of the CDC’s moratorium on evictions. With evictions banned, an already tenant-favoring landlord-tenant law, and tenant lock-outs illegal in Chicago, landlords are left with few options to maintain their obligations under property ownership.
